I´ve had a wonderful trip to Ecuador and have been so grateful for all of the hospitality from the entire family. I think one of the best things about getting married, and about having cousins that are getting married, is that the family continues to grow. I was thankful for my time with Chris and Ericka because although Chris and I know each other very well after years of living togther in Boston, this was a great opportunity for me to spend some time with my nephew and spend a little time with Ericka one on one, girl time!
With Phil and Chris´s cousin Vincent getting married in October, I was thrilled to meet his fiance Dahiana while I was here visiting. She´s a lot of fun (and so pretty!) and it´s fun to watch how happy she and Vincent are together. And of course, it is always fun to spend time with Soizick, Johann, and Mafer. We always have a lot of fun together. They took me out to Bierjaus (Vincent´s bar) last night so that I could check it out. So fun! And last but not least, Rosa Julia and Vincent Sr. were so incredibly generous to play tour guides by taking me to Cuenca for the day. I hadn´t expected to do much sightseeing as this was meant to be a trip to spend with family.
I was also thrilled to meet more of the Wanke side of the family. Phil and Chris´s cousin Jennifer was so gracious to treat Ericka and me to a lovely Ecuadorian breakfast. Jenny has been so welcoming and friendly, you would think we had known each other for years. She is so sweet about keeping in touch on facebook and posting all of the photos of our adventures while I´ve been here. Her mother was so kind, going out of her way to make sure I felt included in conversations and it was wonderful to meet Sufi and his wonderful family as well. All are wonderful people and I felt lucky to be included in the mix.
I´m sad to be saying good'bye, in fact I definitely got teary eyed as Michael Anthony blew me kisses and waved "ciao" as I left their house this afternoon. But I´m definitely ready to be making my way back home. I spoke to Phillip on skype yesterday and I´m so, so excited to see him this weekend when I arrive back in Boston. With any luck I will get to see Morgan within a couple of days as well...and of course there´s Mr. Gomez, who I really hope hasn´t forgotten me.
I am sending a BIG thank you to all of the family here in Ecuador for a wonderful visit!
