I am in Lima!

Well, I arrived safely after a very bumpy flight! We sat on the plane in Miami for about an hour before take off as we watched a thunderstorm pass. This was my very first flight where I had to look for the barf bag, just in case. Luckily it wasn´t used. I can´t tell if Max was bothered by the turbulence or the screaming babies on our flight but he was kicking the whole time! Then again, maybe he wasn´t a fan of the in flight movies. I watched Invictus (tear jerker, even when you´re not prego) and Valentine´s Day (gag me, maybe that´s why I needed the barf bag).

When we arrived in Lima in the wee hours of the morning, there were quite a few of us being corralled like cattle through the immigration line. I was so tired, I thought for a minute I might turn around and tell the guy standing behind me to back the #$%& up because he was standing way too close to an over tired pregnant lady. Luckily the line was moving fast enough that I didn´t need to make any unnecessary confrontations. My bag was waiting for me as soon as I made it over to the baggage claim and all I had to do was fight off the crowd of taxi cab drivers as I walked across the street to the hotel. I think they could tell that I was in no mood to be spoken to. Most of them were easy to fend off.

I don´t think I´ve ever been so happy to find a quiet, clean bed waiting for me. I arranged a late check-out this morning so that I could spend as much time in bed as possible. It was so nice to relax a little and not have to leave the room at all this morning. I helped myself to the minibar without guilt and laughed with the guy at the front desk when checking out about the impressive amount of food I consumed on my own. I´m not sure of many hotel mini bars in the States where you can consume 3 bottles of water, 2 chocolate bars, a pack of saltines and 2 waffer thingies for just 8 bucks. This was on top of the dried apricots and gronola that I had in my bag. Hey, what do you expect? I´ve got a bit of an appetite these days.

So now, here I am, in the hotel business center killing some time as I wait for Mare to arrive. Only 6 and a half more hours to go! Luckily the internet is free and there´s a comfortable sitting area and restaurant on the first floor. So all you parents out there reading, don´t worry about me. I´m living large in Lima.

Sorry for the lack of picture this time. I tried to download my first belly shot for all to see, but alas, this computer is all in Spanish AND it´s a PC AND I´m computer illeterate without Caroline or my brother Andy here to help me anyway...so I didn´t have any luck with the photo download this time. Hopefully Peaps can help in that department once I reach Ollantaytambo.
